Looking forward to the Aussie GP. Woke up to hear that Virgin’s fuel tank is not large enough to get the car round the race any sort of pace, how the hell did they manage? its apparently going to take them a few GP’s to increase the size of the tank, its currently 13 litres too small, thats a hell of a lot.
Here’s hoping for a great race with lots of overtaking….oh hang on this is F1.

      Hi

Driver drink bottle and engine cooling system are now filled with fuel instead.

Watching a recording of qualifying. It’s hissing down with rain and humidity is only 60% – who does the stats?

I see Lewis Hamilton is no longer using his father as his manager, thank god for that, the man irritated the life out of me, had a similar effect as James Allen.
Looking forward to the new season, have a feeling Alonso will do very very well

At least he is back with Nicole. It would be a very dull season without her.

    Flavio….gone

images1Well the fact that Renault have not stood up for Flavio and Pat Symonds spoke volumes, had they mounted a rigorous campaign to defend the pair it would have indicated they were probably not guilty of the charges levelled by Nelson Piquet Jnr. So it comes as no surprise that they have gone. It will now be interesting what sort of sanction is thrown at the team, will it be heavy fine or will it be suspension from next season? either way with the current market factors, Renault may decide to cut and run from F1 as others have done, whatever happens I am sure a certain Woking based team will be watching to see what sort of punishment is meated out, if a team can get a multi million fine for their misdemeanors with a Haynes Manual,  what will happen to a team that tells it’s driver to crash?  As for Neslon Piquet Jnr, I have a feeling he will not be back in F1, not because he deliberately crashed, more the fact he could not cut the mustard at this level, he may also find it difficult to get a drive in other forms of motor racing for dropping his team in it.

I agree – makes a mockery of the so-called sport.

To be honest these three should now face life bans from the ’sport’ or should I say mucky business.
Nelson Piquet Jnr (and his father as his manager)has a few questions to answer, why not say something at the time? why wait like a spoilt bratt until he is sacked, I have to say a lifetime ban from F1 for him is a waste of time as he is no way good enough to drive in this formula.
As for Flavio and Symonds, again life bans, no excuses, they cheated, they told a driver to crash his car deliberately, putting him as well as race marshals and spectators at risk, I dont care if he was doing 80mph, its wrong.
As for Renault, well I have a sneaking suspicion that Bernie and Max want to keep them on board in F1, and may go a little light on them, if thats the case I would expect Maclaren to go slighlty potty, as all they did was a touch of Industrial Espionage (most teams are at it anyway) not put anyones life in danger.

While we are at it, can we look at Lewis Hamiltons last lap crash, I reckon his dad was behind that one!!! ban him from attending his sons races is what I say!!! :)

There is a pit lane full of totty, do we need that particular one?

So it appears for knicking a Haynes Manual it will cost you around 50 million, for asking a driver to pile into a wall in a F1 car putting his and other peoples lives at risk, its only worth a suspended ban….of course this ruling would have bugger all to do with Renault possibly leaving F1 would it? or am I being cynical, I suspect at Maclaren HQ they are fuming, quite rightly, this smacks of a business decision, the serious nature of what Renault did has been put aside. I am fast going off F1, its a sick joke now…

Piquet had a choice – he’s a big boy and could have told them to xiss off and drive it into the wall themselves.

What about the decision NOT to strip them of all points from 2008 GP season.
Points mean sponsors for teams. How many missed out who finished outside the top 8

Alternative Venues for Breakaway Grand Prix!

a-race-circuitIn the Sunday Times today Mark Hughes wrote a very good article about this whole budget capping saga and what could happen if teams broke away from F1, the tracks that could be used was good, Imola, Magny-Cours, A1 – Ring, Zandvoort, Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Hockenheim, Nurburgring, The Gold Coast road circuit used in Indy Car in Oz, Suzuka,  seems like an interesting list, any other circuits we would like to see?

I think that is a fabulous plan, all those great old circuits, how about the return of Indianapolis? Also Montreal!!!

Spa, and what about Adelaide, did they not have a circuit there? The next few days should beintersting with the French Courts throwing out Ferrari’s challenge to the budget plan…

    Ferrari and Renault Threats

Well it seems the budget capping for next season has rattled the cages of Ferrari and Renault so far, with I suspect more to follow, possibly Maclaren and Williams joining in?

F1 finds itself in a very similar position to English Football in the late 80’s, where the big players (Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal) demanded a bigger cut of the financial pie to ensure that they became the very best and maintained that level, hence the Premier League was born, purely to the detriment of the ’smaller’ clubs. At that time football the money was divided up equally amongst the 92 league clubs, once the Premier League was formed the rest were left to pick up the tiny financial crumbs, today in football Eufa chief Michel Platini wants to try and go down the road of salary capping to try and share the wealth around everyone, this is what is now being attempted in F1 and as in football it will not happen,  if in football if this happened the top european clubs would break away and form a bigger European League, the same could happen with F1,  can you imagine F1 without Ferrari, or even Maclaren and Williams? woudl anyone want to watch with the big teams gone?

Ferrari are already feeling the effects of limited testing, as can be seen with their current form,  the Ferrari domination with Schumacher was built not only on his ability but the teams ability to test relentlessly, that being taken away from them is a bitter pill to swallow without the budget cap.  Many of the drivers feel losing Ferrari would devalue F1,  I suspect if Maclaren and Williams join the Ferrari standpoint then Max Mosely and the FIA will have to beat a hasty retreat on this idea…Ferrari

    After the rain

The last few races have seen rain affected races, now Bernie’s Circus has pitched it’s tent in Bahrain,  I have been to Bahrain (granted for an hour on a flight to the Indian Ocean) and noticed there is a bit of sand about the place, bearing in mind the teams rain strategies, have they considered a sandstorm? how would drivers see the yellow flag and what tyres would they use?felipe-massa-in-bahrain-during-sandstorm
